Dr. Veeral Tolia

NEONATAL INSIDER Faculty

Dr. Tolia is clinical neonatologist, the Director of Neonatal Clinical Data Warehouse Research for MEDNAX National Medical Group (Sunrise, Florida), and the director of neonatal research at Baylor University Medical Center. He has been the principle investigator and author for multiple research studies, including publications in the New England Journal of Medicine, The Journal of Pediatrics, JAMA – Pediatrics, and the Journal of Perinatology. His research interests include neonatal abstinence syndrome, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, continuous quality improvement, and health services research. He has been an invited speaker at several national conferences such at “Hot Topics in Neonatology” and NEO: The Conference for Neonatology.”

Dr. Tolia is also the co-director of the DFW Collaborative, a regional, inter-professional quality improvement workgroup of more than 17 NICUs from 6 different health systems that facilitates improvements in quality of care and outcomes for premature infants. He is an assistant professor and faculty advisor at the Texas A&M Health Science Center- College of Medicine, where he is the course director for the NICU MS4 sub-internship, and a core faculty member at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

Dr. Tolia received his Doctorate at the University of Texas – Southwestern Medical School and completed his residency in pediatrics at the Ronald McDonald Children’s Hospital of Loyola University and fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at the Feinberg School of Medicine and Lurie Children’s Hospital of Northwestern University in Chicago.
