James E. Moore M.D., Ph.D., is currently the Ross Mayer Endowed Chair in Neonatology, the Division Chief for Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, and a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and Connecticut Children’s in Hartford, Connecticut. He is a member of CT Children’s Executive Management Team, serving as interim President of Connecticut Children’s Specialty Group, as well as Vice President of Clinical Network Development.
He earned his Ph.D. in Neurophysiology, and subsequently his MD degree, both from Emory University in Atlanta GA. He then completed his pediatric residency training at UT Southwestern and Children’s Medical Center Dallas, and finished his Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship at Boston Children’s in the Harvard School of Medicine combined training program.
He is currently active in clinical research at the University of Connecticut in Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC), gut microbiome and human milk nutrition. He is involved in the AAP Perinatal Section on education. He has been awarded the Richard Rivas Memorial Teaching Award, the Founder’s Award from the Southern Society for Pediatric Research and the Graham’s Foundation Honoree for contributions to Neonatology.
