Dr. Fernando Moya

Fernando Moya, MD is currently the Medical Director of the Nunnelee Subspecialty Clinic in Wilmington, North Carolina, and President and CEO of Coastal Children’s Services, PLLC, a pediatric multispecialty group. He graduated with maximum distinction and completed his pediatric residency at the Catholic University of Chile. He then completed his Neonatology fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine, where he was also Assistant Professor of Pediatrics for several years.

His subsequent employment history/academic appointments include: 1) Associate Director of the Division of Neonatology at Louisiana State University, 2) Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, and, 3) Professor of Pediatrics and Endowed, Tenured Director of the Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at the University of Texas – Houston Medical School from 1997 until 2005. Presently, he is an Adjunct Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.

Dr. Moya is board certified in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. He has been involved in clinical and translational research throughout his career and has been the Principal Investigator for two pivotal trials that resulted in FDA approval. He has 80 peer-reviewed publications in Pediatrics, The Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Pediatrics, Pediatric Research, American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Journal of Perinatology, American Journal of Perinatology among other journals. Also, he has written 16 invited articles and 22 book chapters. Dr. Moya has given over 150 guest lectures in more than 25 countries.
